Why this beats a free template
| Trade Business Plan Templates | Free templates | |
|---|---|---|
| Trade-specific content | Three plans pre-written for cleaning, lawn care and handyman | QuickBooks and Wise are generic; LivePlan's free sample covers cleaning only |
| Editable formats | Word and Google Docs plans, Excel and Google Sheets financials, PDF examples | QuickBooks' template is a PDF; Wise offers Word, PDF and Google Doc |
| Startup costs and projections | Itemized startup cost table plus 12-month and 3-year projections with formula totals for each trade | Generic templates leave the financial section for you to build |
| Worked example | A filled-in example for each of the three trades, with sample numbers labeled | LivePlan has a cleaning example; the generic templates have no trade examples |
| Account or subscription | Files you keep, with no software account needed | LivePlan's deeper tools sit inside its paid software |

Questions
Are there business plan templates for cleaning, lawn care or handyman businesses?
Yes. This download has three pre-written plans: a cleaning business plan, a lawn care business plan and a handyman business plan. Each has trade-specific wording in every section, and you get all three for $12.99, so you can use just the one you need.
How do I write a cleaning business plan?
Start with the Quick Start guide, then work through the sections in order: executive summary, company description, services, market analysis, marketing plan, operations and management, and financial plan. The plan is pre-written for cleaning, so you edit it to fit your business. The filled-in cleaning worked example shows what a finished plan looks like.
How much should I charge for 5 hours of cleaning?
Use the job pricing calculator in the cleaning financials workbook. You enter your own costs and job details, and it works out a price. We don't quote a standard rate, because the right price depends on your costs.
How many customers do I need to make $100,000 a year?
The customers-needed calculator answers this for your business. Enter your income goal, prices and costs, and it shows how many customers or jobs you need. The result comes from your numbers, not from an industry average.
Can ChatGPT create a business plan, and why use a template instead?
An AI tool can draft text, but you would still need to build and check the cost tables and projection formulas. Here they are already built for each trade, so you enter your own numbers and edit the pre-written plan.
Why pay when free business plan templates exist?
Free templates exist and are mostly generic, or cover cleaning only. You are paying for trade-specific wording for three trades, working formulas and finished examples, as files you keep with no software account or subscription.
Does it work in Word and Google Docs, and do I need Excel for the financials?
The plans are Word (.docx) files that open in Google Docs. The financials are Excel (.xlsx) workbooks that open in Google Sheets, so Excel is not required. No accounts or copy links are needed.
Can I use it for a bank loan or a partner?
You can edit it with your own details and share it with a lender or partner. We don't promise loan approval or any result. Worked examples use sample figures, not financial, legal or tax advice, so check local licensing, insurance and tax rules.
